E-003 Imperial Austrian officer’s helmet of the K.u.K. Arcieren Guards. Silver plated helmet body has light “wrinkles” giving an appearance of an almost “hammered” look. Brass trim edging. Large gilt coat-of-arms frontplate within a framework of foliage. Age darkened oak leaf chinscales are attached to 2 1/2″ diameter gilt crowned shield rosettes. Topping the helmet is a fire-gilt bronze, detailed, crowned double-headed eagle standing on a cruciform base with extended arms to the frontplate, side rosettes and spine. A white buffalo hair plume extends from the back of the eagle heads. Brown leatherette sweatband and gold silk lining. The rarest helmet of the Austrian Imperial Period. II
