Third Reich Fuhrer Standarte

***PLEASE NOTE WE WILL UPLOAD THE ENTIRE CATALOG SHORTLY AFTER THANKSGIVING. PLEASE CHECK BACK THEN FOR OUR COMPLETE CATALOG! THANK YOU!*** 8764 Perhaps the rarest item in the Donald G. Brownlow Collection is the Third-Reich Fuhrer Standarte. This was only flown when Adolf Hitler, the Fuhrer and Reichskanzler was present. A stunning design with a 17 3/4″ x 17 1/4″ black silk static swastika with a silver wire and “tape” inner border – within a multi-toned, high relief gold bullion, oak leaf wreath. All on a 26 1/4″ diameter white silk roundel. A 7 3/4″ x 12 5/8″ relief embroidered gold bullion Party eagle is positioned on the upper right and lower left corners have 8″ x 6″ gold bullion Wehrmacht type eagles. The 39″ x 38″ rich red field has a 1 7/8″ wide black/white/black inner border. The entire standard is piped with an age toned twisted gold cord which also forms a trefoil in the top corners. The bottom edge has a 7 1/2″ twisted gold cord fringe. Red silk backing. The podium style of this Fuhrer Standarte identifies it as the center fixture on the viewing balcony of the “Deutscher Hof “Hotel in Munich. A collector made folder on the use of the Fuhrer standarte includes three 7 1/8″ x 9 1/4” original Atlantic Press photos of Hitler viewing a parade of Hitler Youth marchers, with this standarte in the background. One photo is dated “1936” and the other “1938”. The standarte itself shows some wear along the inner white/black/white border and some minute separations on the white roundel. The white silk panel between the top left arm and vertical center of the swastika was replaced, probably during the period. The overall importance of this rare historical standard overshadows any correctible imperfections. Without question it represents an opportunity to own one of the rarest objects of the Third-Reich era. (Included with the Fuhrer Standarte is a letter found with the correspondence of Donald Brownlow, which establishes the names of the collector source and G.I. who acquired the “Fuhrer’s Standard”.)
